SGS 2019 Fellow Scholar Program

SGS is pleased to be continuing the Fellow Scholar program at the 2019 Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS) Scientific Meeting March 31-April 3, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona. The selected fellow(s) will be invited to attend the meeting (airfare, registration and hotel included). We anticipate that we will have 4-6 opportunities this year. The intention is to expose the fellows to a scientific meeting that they may not have had the opportunity to experience.

The meeting agenda also includes participation in the Fellows Pelvic Research Network (FPRN)® meeting on Monday afternoon April 1. The FPRN® was established in 2007 and is mentored by the SGS Research Committee composed of senior scientists. FPRN® was the first fellows’ multi-center research network devoted to gynecology. The purpose of the FPRN® is to enable fellows to work together cooperatively and conduct multi-center research projects.

There are four postgraduate courses on Sunday, March 31. Each "scholar" will be able to participate in at least one of these courses.

As a “scholar” the fellow will be recognized at the awards ceremony and will be expected to tweet, post to Facebook, and/or blog regarding her/his experiences during the SGS Scientific Meeting. We will provide additional information to the selected scholars.

Program directors need to nominate a fellow(s) that would benefit from this experience and submit a letter of support, the fellow’s CV and his/her 250 word essay on why they would like to be an SGS Fellow Scholar entitled "What will I take from SGS and what will I give to SGS”. It is critical that the fellow includes information about his/her expertise with social media. Please click here to access the link to upload information and documents. All applications need to be received by January 31, 2019. Applications will be reviewed by the SGS Selection Committee and the fellows that are selected will receive an email with specific information about transportation and meeting information by February 7.

We hope that your fellows will apply for this exciting, educational opportunity provided by SGS.
