I am honored to write my first “Presidential Corner” as I start my term as SGS President. We had a fantastic meeting in Palm Springs and I would like to congratulate Immediate Past President Andy Walter, MD and 2016 Scientific Program Chair, Eric Sokol, MD for a highly impactful and educational meeting. We had several broken records at the meeting this year: record breaking registration numbers for the meeting, record breaking number of new members inducted into the Society (29!), and record breaking number of attendees at our SHARE social program (with some impressive lip-syncing and dancing! )...read more

Inaugural Distinguished Service Award
The SGS Distinguished Service Award is selected by the SGS Executive Committee to an SGS Active Member in good standing who has provided leadership, organizational or society service, contribution to SGS, gynecologic surgery and/or surgical patient care. The inaugrual recipient of the award was presented to Brittany "Star" Hampton, MD during the Awards Ceremony at the 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting.
Fellow Scholars Tweet and Blog About SGS
Six SGS Fellow Scholars were awarded scholarships to attend the 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting. These awards were supported by Coloplast, CooperSurgical, Intuitive Surgical, OBG Management and the SGS Education Fund.

SGS Mentees Honor 27 Mentors
SGS is a Society deeply rooted in the concept of mentorship and we were pleased to continue the Honor Your Mentor program at the 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting in Palm Springs, CA. This program was developed as a way for SGS members and guests to recognize mentors who have shaped their careers, while also supporting and fostering the mission of SGS.

Your SHARE Donations at Work
Since its inception in 2014, the SGS SHARE program has raised $158,000. SGS is increasing its utilization of these funds to provide additional programing to fulfill its mission.

Michael P. Aronson Fund supported scholarships for two young faculty members to attend the SGS Winter Postgraduate Courses

SGS Finds Non-Surgical Talent at Annual Meeting
The inaugural Lip-Sync contest was held at the Tuesday evening Fund Development "Evening with the Stars" event during the SGS 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting. The event was MC'd by Dr. Tom Nolan, the incoming Chair of the SHARE program and judged by Drs. Bill Hurd, Cheryl Iglesia, and Eric Sokol. The winning team was the "Brown Beliebers".
