Despite the importance of simulation in surgical skill development and maintenance, educators often lack the knowledge and resources needed to conduct successful simulations. Educators need to engage in faculty development to advance programmatic development and implementation. An evaluation tool at the end of the course will provide a gap analysis for future simulation-based postgraduate courses.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1) Describe the importance of simulation curriculum development methodology
2) Explain principles of learning in surgical education
3) Describe examples of different simulation systems available for teaching and strategies for implementations
4) Learn about research methodology and future directions for surgical simulation
