Course 1: Innovations in Training Gynecologic Surgeons - Live and Virtual Gynecologic training has changed significantly over the last several decades. With the implementation of duty hours, expansion of sub-specialization, and requirement for trainees to spend over half of their training time practicing obstetrics, graduating gynecologists are becoming less able to perform advanced gynecologic surgery independently. Like any skill, surgery follows the “if you don’t use it, you lose it” maxim, and non-specialized gynecologists are performing surgery less and less. Course 2: Urologic Surgery For the Gynecologic Surgeon: GU Injury, Ureteral Stents, Complex Fistula and More - Live Only Management of genitourinary tract injuries and complex urinary tract reconstruction is an issue that all pelvic surgeons will face. This workshop aims to use case presentations, surgical videos, group discussions, and hands-on training to foster conversations and deliver content. Understanding techniques for prompt recognition and repair of injuries is crucial to optimizing patient outcomes. However, some providers may have less exposure and comfort with cystoscopic procedures such as retrograde pyelograms and ureteral stent placement. Course 3: The Sim Factor: Making an Impact in Surgical Education - Live Despite the importance of simulation in surgical skill development and maintenance, educators often lack the knowledge and resources needed to conduct successful simulations. Educators need to engage in faculty development to advance programmatic development and implementation. An evaluation tool at the end of the course will provide a gap analysis for future simulation-based postgraduate courses. ![]() ![]() Course 4: Advanced Endometriosis Surgery and Pelvic Pain- Patient Centered Approach - Live and Virtual The success of endometriosis surgery starts long before the procedure itself. Understanding accurate diagnostic modalities that will assist in surgical planning and the informed consent process is paramount to optimizing surgical outcomes. Recognizing various manifestation of this enigmatic condition, its impact on patients’ quality of life and having surgical expertise all plays an important part of providing patient-centered care for women suffering from endometriosis. This course will provide an in-depth discussion on safe and appropriate surgical excision from early stage superficial disease to deep infiltrating endometriosis with multi-visceral involvement. Fertility sparing strategies as well as hysterectomy in the context of severe endometriosis will be discussed in details. SGS Fellows & Young Attending Course SGS Social Media Workshop - Live and Virtual Social and digital media has quickly become the currency with which information is disseminated and reputations are built, both inside and outside of medicine. Women's health and Gynecologic surgery in particular has an enormous opportunity for innovative new voices as our field rapidly evolves and the demand from patients grows.
